Title: Research Associate II (Knowledge Management Specialist)
Description:

Exciting and dedicated team searching for strong knowledge management (KM) specialist to assist the Aguirre Division of JBS International in supporting USAID education and workforce development activities. The successful incumbent will be a mid-to senior-level professional with experience in developing knowledge management systems, assessing knowledge management systems, coordinating the development of knowledge management tools, and delivering educational materials using information and communication technologies. Duties will include ensuring technical excellence in knowledge management activities such as: developing appropriate strategies and tools, developing web portals, newsletters, web courses and instructional materials as well as content management schemes for online databases, oversee seamless coordination of knowledge management tool development (examples- site, blog, workshop, etc.); and working with clients, web and online course developers, and end users. Other tasks will be assigned as new projects arise.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with project directors to manage KM efforts as required by specific USAID- GEM II task orders;
  • Advise project directors and clients on opportunities to implement KM tools for current and new activities;
  • Categorize and label content and create flexible lexicons and tagging schemes for KM systems (for example, collecting similar terminologies from various donor agencies and categorizing it so that USAID can better disseminate);
  • Utilize new or existing subject matter (related to education) and develop expertise specifically with systems designed to gather and disseminate information;
  • Assist in developing KM strategies for current and new activities;
  • Assist in writing sections of proposals related to KM activities;
  • Oversee in-house KM activities across task orders, including designing online courses; designing web sites and other online resources; and implementing Web 2.0 and social networking tools in support;
  • Assess KM efforts under various GEM II task orders;
  • Provide technical assistance to clients on appropriate use of KM tools (such as Information and Communication technologies for Education (ICT) tools in support of education;
  • Participate in the design and develop content for domestic and international workshops and conferences;
  • Identify and recruit prospective consultants, develop and write scopes of work, and contribute to logistics planning and coordinate international teams); and
  • Contribute as an integral team member to the preparation, editing, and production of reports and other deliverables, to include graphics, tables, analytical text, annotated bibliographies, and to assist in analysis and report production, in written form, in Power Point, or in other various forms, as required by clients.
Minimum Requirements:

Language: English Fluency Education: Master’s degree required.

Knowledge: Strong project management background; Must be highly adept at multi-tasking. Key qualifications include initiative, organizational skills, ability to work well in a team, and excellent communication skills (oral and written).

Experience: Ten years’ experience in knowledge management (12+ years preferred), experience defining and working with meta-data.

Software Proficiency: Microsoft office suite; familiarity with various web development platforms and collaborative technologies.

License/Credential: NA

PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Foreign language preferred.
  • Experience in education preferred.
  • Overseas experience or extensive knowledge preferred.
  • Experience working with the government a plus.
